Does your organization have an Automated External Defibrillator yet? If you have ever taken our Community CPR/AED course, you know how important these devices are! In short, during a cardiac arrest, CPR keeps blood and oxygen circulating through the heart until the AED machine arrives to shock the heart back into its electrical rhythm. CPR and AEDs go hand-in-hand. Organizations of all types should have an AED on site and should have individuals trained in CPR. A patient’s chance of survival drops by TEN PERCENT for each minute of that goes by before an AED is used. Think about that. At five minutes into an incident, survival rates are already down to 50%. There is no time to lose. Have these devices ON SITE.
We found out last fall that the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation offers grants for AEDS to not-for-profit organizations such as schools, clubs, nonprofit orgs, etc. This is too good (and too important)
